Blue

Blue is trust; the sky is blue, the sea blue, too
Blue is the colour of mourning, we feel blue, the mood is blue
blue is the colour of awakening-blue skies, blue blazes
and blue was the colour of my father’s eyes-faithful and true-my best friend
blue is love

green is the colour of spring; the grass is green, the emerald isle
green is the colour of greed and envy-money is green, she sees green when she gazes on her rival
green is the colour of rejeuvenation and things alive-green earth, gaia’s green bounty
and green is the colour of protection-army green soldiers, keeping us safe from harm
green is life

red is anger and sin-the devil is red with horns they say, and he sees red
red is the colour of change-fire turns wood to ash, levels buildings and turns us to dust
red is the colour of exploration-the red planet, Mars, waits for our settlers
and red is the colour of pain-his vision bled with firing sparks of red light from the broken foot he just acquired

yellow is the colour of day and happiness-the sun shnes bright and we smile
yellow is the colour of illness; her jaundiced skin and eyes looked sunken, almost deathlike
yellow is the colour of food-ask any four year old who eats nothng that is not thus
and yellow is the colour of joy-she tilts her head back to the sun and spins to rejoice
yellow is happiness

rainbows are what make our world revolve and evolve
rainbows are the colour of us all
raimbows encompass all the best of what we are; and all the worst
rainbows are the colour of every living, breathing being and the earth on whch it walks
rainbows are acceptance

Be a rainbow today. Make someone’s life better by looking at them rather than turning away, or ignoring their plight. Rainbows are not perfect. You and I are not perfect, but rainbows have neither beginning nor end. We can try to be like that. More than what can be “defined” by someone-always another adjective to pop up to become part of what is thought of when someone thinks of who we are. We are all rainbows waiting to happen. Let yourself be.
